Getting there...
There are not a lot of direct flights into Beef Island (EIS) - an island with a bridge to Tortola. American fly's to/from Miami and there are various puddle jumpers from San Juan, PR (SJU) or St. Thomas (STT). Most people fly to St. Thomas and take a public or private ferry.
Below is a list of ferry services:

List of Privates Charter Companies to follow

Public Ferry:
There are three public ferry service providers, with ferries running to Road Town, Tortola at 9:00am, 2:00pm, 4:00pm and 5:30pm (returning from Tortola at 7:30am, 10:00am, 11:30am and 3:30pm). If you want to buy in advanced, go to the various providers site to find which one is running for your desired time.

You can generally buy your ticket at the terminal. It's slightly cheaper to buy in advanced but if you miss you ferry, the next ferry is likely to be with another service provider and while your ticket can be used for a year, it is not transferrable between service providers.

Complete eVisa on ferry or prior to leaving. [https://bviedcard.gov.vg/en]

Here's an idea of what to expect from the Cyril E. King (STT) Airport:

DurComment
10 minsWalk to taxi area and get in a shuttle (group van) to Charlotte Amalie
15 minsShuttle ride ($20/pp cash)
60 minsFerry ride to Road Town, Tortola ($xx/pp+ $10/bag required to check bags that you are not carrying). Passport required for customs. Declare goods.
10 minsUnload bags while you're on the ferry
60 mins+/- 30 minutes depending on how many people are in front of you. Step 1: Customs and immigration, passport required). Step 2: Agriculture Check (quick). Declare goods (sb quick). Taxi

The trip back is very similar. However, at STT you will need to go through more checks which takes another 60 minutes +/- 30 minutes depending on crowds (1st Boarding Pass, Passport, Customs, 2nd Passport and Agriculture, 3rd Bag Check and TSA). So on average you'll need 3.5 hours from your Road Town departure time to your flight boarding time.
